District East sees 18pc fall in street crime in Ramazan
District East recorded the lowest crime ratio during Ramazan, with a 22 per cent decrease in total crimes compared to the previous year, according to CPLC Karachi crime statistics. A spokesperson for District East stated that street crimes saw an 18 per cent decline, with 311 incidents reported in 2025, compared to 381 in 2024.
Motorcycle snatching cases dropped significantly by 44 per cent, with 153 incidents this year, down from 272 last year. Similarly, motorcycle theft saw a 16 per cent decrease, with 731 cases recorded in 2025, compared to 873 in 2024. The statistics also showed a nearly 30 per cent reduction in incidents involving the theft and snatching of four-wheel vehicles.
Several areas in District East experienced noticeable improvements in crime reduction. Gulistan-e-Jauhar saw 53 fewer incidents, while Sharea Faisal recorded a decline of 64 cases. Jamshed Quarters and Soldier Bazaar also reported 24 fewer incidents compared to the previous year.
Officials attributed this decline to effective policing strategies, proactive law enforcement measures, and improved monitoring. Authorities had reaffirmed their commitment to maintaining public safety and continuing efforts to curb crime in the district.
