An elderly woman was among three individuals severely injured in a gas leakage explosion at a house in Liaquatabad No 5 during the early hours of Wednesday, just before Sehri.
The explosion resulted in a significant fire, prompting immediate response from police, firefighters, and ambulances. With assistance from local residents and volunteers, the injured were evacuated and transported to nearby hospitals. The victims was identified as 61-year-old Shabana, wife of Taqi; 36-year-old Saad, son of Javed; and 26-year-old Sameer. Authorities had attributed the explosion to a gas pipeline leakage and have initiated a thorough investigation into the incident.
This incident underscored the recurring issue of gas-related explosions in Karachi. Similar events had been reported in areas such as Paposh Nagar and Liaquatabad in recent years, often resulting in injuries and property damage. Residents were urged to ensure regular maintenance of gas appliances and promptly report any suspected leaks to prevent such tragedies.
