MARDAN: Police inspectors on Wednesday asked the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Inspector General of Police to issue orders for their promotion to the rank of DSPs as per the seniority list issued by the authorities concerned.
The police ranker-inspectors, who wished not to be named, told The News that they were given seniority followed by their selection for advance-course-2025, a five-year ASRs which was a necessary condition to promotion to DSP rank.
They appealed to IGP that they were promoted to the post of ASI in 2008 and were confirmed after six years while awarding promotion to sub-inspector post. They said that they were promoted to inspector from SI post after nine years.
As per the police rules, they claimed that they were to be confirmed after two years instead of six years from promotion ASI to SI posts. They lamented that their promotion to the post of inspector was also unnecessarily delayed.
They pointed out that three years had been left in their retirement from the police department that was why they could not complete a five-year ASRs advance course-2025, for which they had been selected.
They claimed that Supreme Court Pakistan Judgments were placed on record besides the Police Rules 13 and 18 about rankers’ promotion were also available. They appealed to the IGP to exempt them from the 5-year ASRs advance course-2025 so that they could get their due right to promotion to DSP posts.
