At least 214 people have lost their lives in road accidents in Karachi in less than three months, including 68 deaths attributed to heavy vehicles such as tankers and trailers, highlighting a systemic issue that demands immediate attention.
Investigations into the recent tragedies point to factors like vehicle faults, reckless driving, driver fatigue and inadequate road-safety measures. It is crucial for authorities to implement stricter regulations, ensure rigorous enforcement of traffic laws for heavy vehicles and improve road infrastructure to prevent further loss of innocent lives.
