Release of funds for DHQ Hospital Wana ordered

PESHAWAR: A meeting of the Cabinet Supervisory Committee on Tuesday ordered the release of funds for the District Headquarters (DHQ) Hospital Wana.

Adviser to Chief Minister on Health Ihtisham Ali chaired the meeting.The meeting issued directives for the release of funds to the hospital, emphasizing that issues from the caretaker government period still remain unresolved. It was noted that other hospitals that were being run on the pattern of the Public Private Partnership had received funds.

Minister for Agriculture Major (R) Sajjad Barakwal, Minister for Excise, Taxation & Narcotics Control Mian Khaliq-ur-Rehman, MPA Ajab Gul, Secretary Health Shahidullah Khan, Special Secretary Health Habibullah, DG Health Dr Muhammad Saleem Khan, MD Health Foundation Dr. Adnan Taj, along with representatives from Finance, Anti-Corruption Establishment, PPP Hospital Shah Miran, and other relevant officials attended the meeting.

The meeting discussed the release of funds to the DHQ hospital Wana operating under the Public-Private Partnership model.It was decided that the salaries of civil servants working in the hospital would be adjusted from the allocated funds.

The meeting was informed that 121 civil servants had been transferred from DHQ Wana Hospital, and their salaries would no longer be deducted from the IP partner’s funds. However, 81 civil servants currently serving at the hospital would continue to receive their salaries during the fund release process.

Health Adviser Ihtisham Ali noted that other PPP hospitals had already received funds to prevent future disbursement issues. He highlighted that during the caretaker government, delays in fund disbursement caused a financial crisis in these hospitals, which has now been largely resolved. He said that now funds for all hospitals would be released regularly.
