LDA mulls over developing housing schemes under sustainable model
LAHORE:Lahore Development Authority (LDA) will soon start development works in its different housing schemes under the sustainable development model.
This was decided in a meeting of the Engineering Wing, which was held under the chairmanship of LDA DG Tahir Farooq here on Tuesday. The progress of ongoing projects in the provincial capital was also reviewed in the meeting.
LDA Chief Engineer Israr Saeed and project director gave a briefing. They said that the Block B-3 Gulberg has been developed under sustainable model and its finishing will also be completed in the next few days. The development work was underway at a rapid pace on C-1, D-1 and Sir Syed Road.
In the meeting, LDA DG said that the LDA will also develop link roads and more blocks of the Gulberg Scheme under the sustainable model. The road was being expanded on both sides of the Main Boulevard Sabzazar and footpaths were being constructed. The Main Boulevard Sabzazar will be completed next month.
The meeting was also briefed about Tollinton Market, Jan Muhammad Road and the link road from Madr-e-Millat to Rehmat Ali Road. The LDA will soon start works in its other schemes under the sustainable development model. The development works in the G-1 Market Commercial Zone were ongoing day and night.
LDA DG directed that the convenience of traders should be taken into account along with the ongoing development works in the commercial zone. Meanwhile, LDA teams conducted a full-scale operation against illegal commercial buildings and commercial fee defaulters. LDA teams have sealed 78 properties in different areas by conducting operations against illegal commercial buildings yesterday.
LDA teams conducted operations in Gulberg, New Garden Town, Sabzazar, UBD Canal Road in which 25 properties were sealed in Gulberg, New Garden Town, and 20 properties on UBD Canal Road. The teams sealed 33 properties in Sabzazar during the recovery operation.
The properties sealed include restaurants, clinics, workshops, private schools, stores, salons, shops, offices, etc. The operation was supervised by Chief Town Planner Asad-uz-Zaman. Furthermore, the LDA Vice Chairman Mian Marghub Ahmed and LDA DG Tahir Farooq planted a sapling in the township office under the Plant for Pakistan campaign. On this occasion, LDA DG said that LDA was planting more than 215,000 saplings. In the last few days, LDA has planted more than 40,000 saplings, 25,000 of which have been geotagged. LDA has also distributed more than 15,000 saplings among the citizens in a few days.
