LAHORE:Nasirabad Police have arrested a security guard employed at Gulab Devi Hospital on charges of attempting to rape a 10-year-old girl who had come for a routine medical check-up.
The accused, identified as Wali Khan, allegedly lured the girl into a secluded room within the hospital premises before attempting to assault her. According to police, the girl managed to scream for help, prompting the suspect to flee the scene. Authorities received an emergency call, and within 30 minutes, the suspect was traced. Police arrested the suspect and registered a case against him.
13 die on road in 24 hours
The Emergency Services Department (ESD) responded to 1,331 road accidents in all districts of Punjab during the last 24 hours.
In these accidents, 13 people died, whereas 1,536 were injured. Out of these, 650 people with serious injuries were shifted to different hospitals, while 886 victims with minor injuries were treated at the incident site by Rescue medical teams.
Meanwhile, a series of tragic incidents across the City claimed four lives, including two children. In Shahdara, a speeding motorcycle rickshaw ran over an elderly woman and two children, resulting in the immediate death of 4-year-old Zainab. The injured were rushed to the hospital for treatment. In another incident, two-year old Zarnab died in hospital two days after being burnt in Jhugian Nagra, Nawankot. A 78-year-old security guard, Aslam, was fatally struck by a speeding truck while crossing the road in Defence C Block. Meanwhile, a 65-year old Sakeena Bibi, a resident of Gujjumatta, passed away due to cardiac arrest. Police and Edhi volunteers shifted the bodies to mortuaries.
