ISLAMABAD: President of the Pakistan Ex-servicemen Society, Senator Lt General (Retd) Abdul Qayyum has regretted that in the pursuit of cheap fame and to boost their political careers, some politicians are spreading rumors about military operations in the country, thereby plunging the public into confusion.
The ex-Senator demanded strong action against the enemies of the state and ensure that Pakistan remains safe from all threats. “Today, it is essential that we unite to protect the integrity of our country. Those who support terrorists as abetters and facilitators deserve no sympathy”, Abdul Qayyum said while talking to journalists.
The senator went on to say that the inland military operations only become necessary when there are pockets of resistance and ‘No Go’ areas within our borders. Presently there are no areas where our security forces can’t go. Therefore, the General said that only intelligence based operations (IBOs) are being conducted which are essential to flush out all hideouts and sleeper cells of the terrorists.
“Similarly no country can turn a blind eye towards illegal immigrants some of home may be conniving with terrorists and becoming their facilitators,” he said, adding our adversaries have always tried to weaken our national Army responsible for national security. There was need to review the history. “We see that our security forces have sacrificed countless lives to thwart the enemy’s evil designs”, Abdul Qayyum said, adding the nation must unite and stand against these hostile elements and defeat their malicious intentions.
“Love for the motherland should be our collective passion and duty and whenever national integrity is at risk, every Pakistani must step forward to fight against the enemy”, he said. He said that Pakistan Ex-Servicemen Society fully supports valour of Armed Forces and recommends that full national level cooperation across the board should be extended to Pakistan’s police and security forces, and speedy legal action must be taken against the apprehended terrorists so that our country could be free of terrorism forever.
