2,417 arrested for violating anti-kite flying act
LAHORE:On the instructions of IGP Dr Usman Anwar, police are intensifying actions across the province under zero tolerance policy to eliminate metal strings and kite flying.
In continuation of which this year, 2,417 suspects have been arrested and 2,381 cases have been registered for violating the Anti-Kite Flying Act across the province including Lahore. Giving details, the Punjab police spokesperson said that 04 lakh 31 thousand 275 Kites, 14,885 spinning wheels were recovered and challans of 1,853 cases were submitted.
In the provincial capital Lahore, 704 suspects were arrested, 710 cases were registered, 20,674 kites and 963 string spinning wheels were recovered. Last year, 12,525 suspects were arrested and 11,866 cases were registered across the province, including Lahore. IG directed the officers to ensure strict implementation of the Kite Flying Prohibition Amendment Bill. RPOs, CPOs, DPOs should intensify crackdown on kite flyers, kite sellers and manufacturers. Life-threatening activities are not allowed at all and a zero-tolerance policy should be adopted against those involved in the bloody business.
