WANA: The relatives of kidney patients needing dialysis on Monday expressed concerns over the ongoing strike at the District Headquarters Hospital Wana and asked the government to look into their plight.

The healthcare crisis in South Waziristan has deepened as the families of kidney patients held a press conference at the District Press Club Wana and demanded the government to resolve the issue. They said that the patients were bearing the brunt of the strike by the doctors.

They said that the hospital only provided emergency services as the doctors and other staff members were on strike due to non-payment of salaries. The entire medical staff, including doctors, is protesting, leaving critical patients with no option but to seek treatment at Sholam Hospital.

However, the situation at Sholam Hospital was no different. The relatives informed the media that while the facility currently offered limited dialysis services, these may be discontinued. This could severely impact over 50 kidney patients who are struggling with a lack of medical facilities.

The families warned that if no arrangements were made, they would stage an indefinite sit-in outside the Javed Sultan Camp to demand urgent action. They asked Chief Minister Ali Amin Khan Gandapur, MNA Zubair Khan, and MPA Ajab Gul to intervene immediately and ensure that permanent dialysis facilities were established at both District Headquarters Hospital Wana and Sholam Hospital.
