Action taken against price-hikes: official
ABBOTTABAD: The Consumer Rights Office in Abbottabad is actively working to protect consumers by cracking down on businesses engaged in overcharging and exploitation during Ramazan, an official said on Monday.
“We are conducting daily inspections to monitor and prevent illegal profiteering to achieve the target,” said Ibrahim Khan, assistant director consumers’ rights.He claimed that they have continuously raided the markets and imposed fines on those involved in overcharging.
He said that these inspections enabled the authorities to keep a close eye on shopkeepers and business outlets, ensuring they comply with pricing regulations. He said that they had imposed significant fines on violators, demonstrating its commitment to protecting consumers. By remaining vigilant and taking proactive measures, he said, the office helped prevent exploitation and ensures businesses operate ethically.
