ISLAMABAD: Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif has approved recommendations of High-Powered Selection Board (HPSB) for promotion of 47 officers from Grade-21 to 22.
According to sources, Establishment Division has sent the posting plan of promoted officers to the prime minister for approval. After approval, notification of promotions of these officers will be issued in a day or two.
According to the plan, many officers will continue to perform duties in their ministries, while others working as Grade-21 officers will be posted on Grade-22 posts.
The HPSB meeting, held on March 5 and 10 this month, was chaired by deputy prime minister.
Nineteen officers of Pakistan Administrative Service, eight officers of Police and nine officers of Foreign Service were recommended for promotion to Grade-22.
The Board recommended promotion of five officers of Secretariat, two of Audit and Accounts, one each from Information, Economist, Postal and Railways groups. The Board also recommended promotion of IG Sindh Ghulam Nabi Memon. The Board’s recommendations included promotion of Chairman FBR Rashid Langrial, Secretary Petroleum Momin Agha, Chief Secretary Punjab Zahid Akhtar Zaman, Secretary Education Mohiuddin Wani and Secretary Information Ambreen Jan.
The other officers recommended for promotion are Wasim Ajmal Chaudhry, Usman Bajwa, Muhammad Umair Karim, Ambrain Raza, Ali Tahir, Asadul Rehman Gilani, Syed Ata-ur-Rehman, Mosaddiq Ahmed Khan, Nadeem Mehboob, Dawood Muhammad, Sadia Sarwat Javed, Ali Sarfraz Hussain, Ahmed Raza Sarwar and Nabeel Ahmed Awan.
Police Service: BA Nasir, Muhammad Farooq Mazhar, Imran Yaqoob, Abdul Khaliq Sheikh, Muhammad Zubair Hashmi, Muhammad Shahzad Sultan, Muhammad Tahir were recommended for promotion.
Officers of Foreign Service: Ahmed Naseem Warraich, Rahim Hayat Qureshi, Asim Iftikhar Ahmed, Syed Ahsan Raza Shah, Rizwan Saeed Sheikh, Faisal Niaz Tirmizi, Saqlain Syeda, Shafqat Ali Khan and Nabeel Munir were promoted.
Ayesha Humaira, Zahoor Ahmed, Dr Nawaz, Hammad Shamimi and Muhammad Aslam Ghori of Secretariat Group were recommended for promotion from Grade-21 to 22.
The HPSB recommended promotion of Syed Mazhar of Railways Group, Shahzad Hassan and Syed Muhammad Ammar Naqvi of Audit and Accounts.
The recommendations also included promotion of Dr Imtiaz of Economist Group and Samiullah Khan of Postal Group.
Promotion of seven officers of Inland Revenue Service and Pakistan Customs could not be actualised due to a stay order granted by the high court. As the stay order has been vacated, HPSB will now meet within a month in which seven officers of FBR will be promoted from Grade-21 to 22.
