Maryam introduces IT programme to train 27,000 rural women

LAHORE: Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz has introduced the 1st Comprehensive Program of IT Training & Digital Skills to train 27,000 rural women.

Under her orders, doors of digitalization and information technology have been opened for rural women and 27,000 rural women will be trained. Maryam said: “Rural women will get scholarship during online training, while desktop computers and free Wi-Fi devices will be given on completion of online training. The Punjab Skills Development Department will provide six months of online training to rural women, they can apply from home on the website (psdf.org.pk). IT, web development, coding, digital marketing, e-commerce, social media management, graphic design & multimedia, freelancing, remote work, data entry, office automation and cyber security skills will be taught, the department will also provide a certificate and job links on completion of training.”

She said: “After completing online digital and IT training, rural women can also start freelancing, tech firms or online businesses from home. Online training of rural women will eliminate barriers of distance, women will be able to earn a respectable and dignified job without leaving home. Women will be economically empowered through IT and digital technology, 27,000 women will be able to become the founders of digital revolution in Punjab. Digital training of rural women will achieve goals like education, gender equality, decent employment and reduction in economic inequality. They will be able to compete in the international IT market even while sitting in villages, technology education will not just be a skill but a means to write their own bright future.”

Eid gifts to special children: “We want to share joy of Eid with our special children by presenting them Eid gifts,” said Maryam while directing SACM Sania Ashiq to start and personally monitor the Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Eid Gift Campaign for Special Children.

Sania has visited Government Degree College for Special Education, Johar Town, Government Shadab Institute of Special Education and Government Degree College for Special Education, Nishtar Town, to present Eid gifts to children on behalf of Maryam and express her affection for them. On the CM direction, she went to each classroom and presented Eid gifts and cards to the students herself. She also read out a written message of Eid Mubarik from the chief minister and said: “Eid gifts are being presented to special students in all districts of Punjab. A target of presenting Eid gifts to 40,000 children will be achieved before Eid holidays.”

Maryam said: “It is a great joy to see special children happy. New and unique projects for special children are being introduced in Punjab.

Sania also planted a sapling in the lawn of the Special Education College.

World Water Day: “Water is a symbol of life, and a guarantee of secure future for posterity,” said Maryam in her message on the World Water Day. She added: “Water is a blessing whose protection is a responsibility of all of us. Our Holy Prophet Hazrat Muhammad (SAW) also forbade us to waste water. Every drop of water is precious, public awareness should be raised to prevent its wastage in daily life.
