LAHORE : Punjab Police remained on high alert across the province on 21st Ramazan, ensuring stringent security for mourning processions and gatherings marking the martyrdom day of Hazrat Ali (RA).
Over 26,000 officers and personnel were deployed, including 17,000 for 192 processions and 9,000 for 955 majalis. A three-tiered security mechanism was implemented, allowing mourners to join only after thorough screening. Across Punjab, 27 Category A processions were conducted under strict surveillance from the central control room at the Central Police Office. Walk-through gates, metal detectors, and snipers on rooftops further strengthened security, while lady police personnel managed female mourners' screening.
