Operation Zarb-e-Azb
This refers to the editorial, ‘Two years on’ (June 18 ). Gen Bajwa dilated upon the gains of Operation Zarb-e-Azb on the eve of the second anniversary of the operation. Two years back, when this operation was launched, our country was in the grip of terror. Attending a religious, national and sports festival was equal to risking one’s life.
In the wake of this chaotic scenario, Operation Zarb-e-Azb was initiated. Our brave soldiers rose to the occasion and kept their promise to save this sacred soil from external as well as internal threats. Save sporadic incidents of terrorist attacks, such as the Iqbal Park bombing in Lahore, and the Bacha Khan University attack, conditions are relatively calm. After APS Peshawar’s brutal attack, the National Action Plan was meant to be a supplement to the operation. The nation stands with the armed forces.
