LAHORE:A comprehensive security plan has been formulated by Lahore Police for the peaceful observance of Martyrdom Day of Hazrat Ali (RA). Over 7,000 police officers and personnel will be on duty to ensure security during the event.
Over 600 traffic police officers, 72 teams from the Elite Police Force, 44 teams from the Dolphin Squad and 30 teams from the PRU will also be deployed for security. Female police officials will be assigned to check female mourners in the city.
In this regard, CCPO Bilal Siddique Kamyana added that Lahore Police will provide foolproof security to the processions and majalis. A three-tier security barrier would be in place for the participants of the processions. Kamyana issued instructions to keep the police fully alert and ensure thorough checks of the mourners. Similarly, CCTV cameras would monitor the processions and majalis in real-time. Special arrangements have been made to ensure smooth traffic flow and stringent security measures have been put in place for the day, he added.
Earlier, the Punjab Home Department has issued comprehensive security directives for Youm-e-Shahadat of Hazrat Ali (RA), instructing all stakeholders to ensure strict implementation.
According to the official notification, foolproof security arrangements must be made on 21st Ramazan (today), including enhanced security at key mosques, seminaries, imambargahs, and shrines. Additional personnel should be deployed as needed. Security protocols must be strictly followed for mourning processions, Majalis-e-Aza, and public gatherings in mosques across the province.
