Karachi is the highest tax-paying city in Pakistan, generating approximately 50 per cent of the country’s revenue. As Pakistan’s financial, industrial, and commercial capital, as well as its main trading hub, Karachi plays a crucial role in the country’s economy. However, despite its importance, it has been consistently neglected over the years. Despite all the taxes, people in Karachi continue to struggle for basic necessities.
The government has failed to provide Karachi and its citizens with their fundamental rights including safety and education. Karachi is also one of the most polluted cities in the world. And then there are the endless gas and electricity shortages and the poor infrastructure as well. Every city deserves equal treatment. The residents of Karachi must be given its due rights.
