PESHAWAR: Opposition Leader in the National Assembly Omar Ayub Thursday said that efforts were ongoing to convince Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam-Fazl (JUIF) chief Maulana Fazlur Rehman to join the grand alliance.
Speaking to Geo News, the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) leader expressed optimism that Fazl would soon become a part of the opposition bloc, adding that negotiations with the JUI-F leader were underway to finalise the alliance.
Meanwhile, PTI has expedited efforts to form a grand opposition alliance to launch an anti-government movement after Eidul Fitr, following the party founder’s directives. A key move in this regard was to unite the opposition against the government, but internal discord and political missteps have stalled progress. Efforts to bring the JUI-F on board have also been undermined by mixed signals from PTI’s own leadership.
