HANGU: The local residents continued to migrate to safer places owing to ongoing operations by security forces against terrorists in various areas of lower Kurram for the third consecutive day on Thursday.
Over the past three days, 480 families have relocated to Tall, Doaba, Hangu, Kohat and Peshawar from lower Kurram and preferred to stay with their relatives instead of seeking shelter in the camp established internally displaced people in Hangu.
Deputy Commissioner Hangu Gohar Zaman Wazir said that migration from lower Kurram to different areas via Hangu was going on. He said a camp had been set up for the displaced people in the Togh Sarai area of Hangu district with the support of the provincial government and Provincial Disaster Management Authority (PDMA).
So far, around 50 tents have been set up, but no families have yet arrived at the Hangu IDP camp. Instead, all affected families have opted to stay with their relatives or in rented houses.The DC said that all necessary arrangements had been made for the displaced families.
Meanwhile, Additional Assistant Commissioner Tall, Ehsan Ali Shah, said that a registration point had been established for Kurram IDPs at the Torpal Checkpost in Tall tehsil in Hangu.Over the past three days, approximately 480 families have migrated from various areas of lower Kurram, including Bagan, Mandori, Ochat, Dakmar and Charkhel
