SHO, four cops, clerk suspended on corruption charges

Deputy Inspector General (DIG) Operations, Faisal Kamran has suspended the Station House Officer (SHO) of Johar Town, along with the station’s clerk and four constables, on charges of corruption and misuse of authority.

The action was taken following allegations that they demanded a bribe from the son of a female MPA. After a thorough investigation, the accused officers were found guilty, leading to strict departmental action. Additionally, DIG Operations has sought an explanation from the supervisory officer, SP Sadar, for inadequate oversight.

DIG Faisal Kamran emphasized that corruption and abuse of power are “red lines” for the police force, and any officer crossing these lines will not remain in their position under any circumstances. He reiterated that every citizen’s dignity and rights are paramount and that no misconduct will be tolerated. He further warned that if corruption is proven in any police station, the respective SHO and clerk will also be held accountable.

DIG Operations reaffirmed Lahore Police’s commitment to enhancing internal accountability and eliminating corruption within the force. He stated, “Only those who fulfill their duties with responsibility deserve their positions, while corrupt officers will face strict action without discrimination.”
