LDA to plant 215,000 saplings under ‘Plant for Pakistan’ drive

LAHORE:LDA DG Tahir Farooq on Thursday said that LDA will plant 215,000 saplings under the Plant for Pakistan campaign. Saplings will also be planted on the land reclaimed in the Sabzazar Scheme.

Taking lead in the Punjab government’s ‘Plant for Pakistan’ special campaign, LDA DG Tahir Farooq planted a sapling at LDA Sports Complex Johar Town as part of the tree plantation campaign. Member Provincial Assembly Mian Imran Javed also planted a sapling under this campaign.

Speaking on the occasion, he said that LDA will plant 150,000 saplings with the support of private schemes. LDA is also distributing free saplings in different areas of the city. LDA DG said that citizens should take active part in the tree plantation campaign to save Lahore from smog and environmental pollution.

LDA was working on sustainable development projects in Lahore on the instructions of Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz. LDA DG also distributed saplings among the citizens at the Citizen Facilitation Centre LDA. Chief Engineer LDA, Additional DGs, Chief Metropolitan Planning, Chief Town Planner and other officers also distributed saplings. Director Environment, Director Sports, Director Engineering and related officers were also present on the occasion.

Meanwhile, LDA DG Tahir Farooq visited Sabzazar Scheme and G11 Market Johar Town and reviewed the LDA properties recovered in Sabzazar Scheme. He directed to plant trees around the drain in the recovered area. He further directed that saplings be planted on the drain area around Kharak drain under the Plant for Pakistan campaign.

LDA had removed encroachments and slums from more than 300 kanals of land in Sabzazar L Block. LDA DG Tahir Farooq said that LDA will develop a commercial area in the future on the recovered area.
