Women cricketers’ camp for WC Qualifiers from today
LAHORE: The Women’s National Selection Committee has shortlisted 19 players for the ICC Women’s Cricket World Cup Qualifiers.
Leg-spinner Tuba Hassan has been ruled out due to a fractured finger, while experienced all-rounder Nida Dar has been recalled to the squad. The camp, based at the Ghani Glass Academy in DHA, Lahore, will run from March 21 (today) to 30.
The camp, under the supervision of Head Coach Muhammad Wasim, will focus on honing the players’ skills through specialised batting, bowling, and fielding sessions. Fitness drills and intra-squad practice matches are also on the agenda to simulate match scenarios and build team cohesion.
The Qualifiers are set to take place from April 9 to 19 at the Gaddafi Stadium and LCCA Ground in Lahore. The six-team Qualifier features Bangladesh, Ireland, Scotland, Thailand, West Indies, and hosts Pakistan in a round-robin format, where each side will play against the rest.
The top two teams will secure their spots in the ICC Women’s Cricket World Cup 2025, scheduled to be held in India. Camp players in alphabetical order: Aliya Riaz, Diana Baig, Fatima Sana, Ghulam Fatima, Gull Feroza, Muneeba Ali (wicket-keeper), Najiha Alvi (wicket-keeper), Nashra Sundhu, Natalia Parvaiz, Nida Dar, Omaima Sohail, Rameen Shamim, Sadia Iqbal, Shawaal Zulfiqar, Sidra Amin, Sidra Nawaz (wicket-keeper), Syeda Aroob Shah, Tasmia Rubab and Umm-e-Hani.
