Almost every Pakistani has condemned the inhumane attack on the Jaffar Express train in Balochistan and praised the utmost bravery of the security forces, who fought chivalrously to rescue all the innocent citizens. Sadly, some of the brave soldiers who took part in the rescue operation were martyred. There is a long history of terrorist attacks in Pakistan, with several terror groups all working to destabilise the nation, often under the direction of foreign or external actors and with ability to seek shelter in neighbouring countries. They have challenged the writ of the state and state must respond to them very strictly.
The military, along with other law-enforcement agencies must eradicate the menace of terrorism at any cost. Pakistan must also expose the involvement of external actors in sponsoring terrorism inside the country’s territory, particularly in Balochistan and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa. At the international level, Pakistan must present evidence of this involvement and hold those responsible accountable. It should be strongly stated that, ever since its creation, Pakistan has always followed the UN charter and that it expects the same from other countries too. They must respect Pakistan’s sovereignty and its nuclear status.
