QUETTA: Three hand grenades were found in the affected bogies of the Jaffar Express at the locomotive shed adjacent to Quetta Railway Station.

One of the three grenades was defused.

The bogies, which had been affected by the hijacking, had been brought to Quetta from the Kachhi area of Mashkaf for repair. Upon discovery of the grenades by the police, one grenade was defused, and the sound of the explosion was heard from a distance.

According to railway officials, the bogies bear bullet marks, and most of the windows are shattered. The officials further stated that after the repairs, the bogies will be used for travel.

It is important to note that on March 11, the Jaffar Express, traveling from Quetta to Peshawar, was attacked in the Kachhi area. During the attack, 26 people were killed, and more than 40 were injured. The train’s bogies were severely damaged, with windows and doors shattered. The affected bogies of the train were brought to Quetta for repairs last night. These bogies have bullet marks, and the windows and doors are broken.

The DS Railway stated that five bogies of the Jaffar Express were severely damaged in the attack, with four of them being sent to Mach Station. The repair work on the affected track has been completed, and a decision to resume railway operations will be made later.

The Mashkaf attack resulted in the destruction of 382 feet of railway track.
