ISLAMABAD: The Public Accounts Committee (PAC) has summoned Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) Chairman Mohsin Naqvi in the matter of non-distribution of Rs2 billion for PSL-8.
The PAC held its meeting with the chair of its Chairman Junaid Akbar Khan here Wednesday which examined the audit para regarding the non-distribution of about Rs2 billion for Pakistan Super League (PSL) 8.
According to audit authorities, this amount was not distributed between the PCB and the franchise.
PAC Chairman Junaid Akbar Khan asked whether the PCB chairman should not have been in the committee today. During the meeting, the Secretary Cabinet said that it was not possible for him to come due to the incidents in Quetta and Balochistan.
Committee member Sanaullah Mastikhel said that it is a matter of great regret that the interior minister is abroad and not here. “In such circumstances, is he not even playing the role of the interior minister,” he remarked.
The committee member said that the PCB was illegally brought under the cabinet in the caretaker set-up. The cabinet secretary said during the meeting that he have just received information that the interior minister is in the country, not abroad.
Senator Fauzia Arshad said that chairman Committee should summon the PCB chairman, to which the PAC chairman said in a lighter tone that “You want me to spend the rest of my life in jail.”
Committee member Syed Naveed Qamar said that we cannot examine the audit report without the PCB chairman. “Apart from the privilege motion, the committee also have many powers. If a person does not come when called once, you can send a notice and if not come then the committee has a powers for issue an arrest warrant under the powers of a civil judge,” he said.
The PAC summoned PCB Chairman Mohsin Naqvi in the next meeting.
The PAC chairman said that in the Champions Trophy 2025, it has been heard that Rs29 billion was spent and the income was around Rs1.7 billion.
