HARIPUR: Urging unity to face challenges, Jamaat-i-Islami deputy head Liaqat Baloch on Wednesday said that the country was going through the worst political crisis as the politics had been poisoned, the sentiments of hatred and biases were on the rise leading the country’s politics to a closed alley.

He was speaking at an Iftar party hosted by the local JI’s chapter here.

Baloch said that the parliament was paralysed and the mandate was fake. “As a result the status of constitution, parliament, courts and democracy has been belittled to the zero but it’s not the solution that after every five years a political party on the basis of support of a state’ organ comes and plunder the election,” he added.

He said that the political leadership must join hands to set national priorities on the national agenda at least for the sake of constitution, democracy and free and fair election and leading the country out of crises. “For the charter of economy the national leadership must join hands, at least,” he suggested, quoting the example of Bangladesh where the rival political parties joined hands and stood firm against the dictatorship.

Referring to the Jaffar Express incident, the JI’s central leader said that Pakistan was facing the worst terrorism and lawlessness, security forces and police were being targeted.

About the PM’s announcement for a national conference, he said that it was imperative to discuss weaknesses of the state’s organs, growing mistrust on the intelligence system. “We need to revise the national action plan afresh, bringing the Pakistani nation to stand behind it,” he said.

About the PM’s foreign tours, Baloch said that his visits were not going to change the internal situation of the country as the chances of restoration of peace and stability in the country were dim in the prevailing circumstances.
