WANA: The police claimed to have seized 40 kilograms of hashish and arrested the alleged drug peddlers Upper South Waziristan on Monday.
Taking action on a tip-off about smuggling of drugs from Zhob in Balochistan via Waziristan, Ladha Police Station House Officer Naveed Nadir Khan barricaded the road for checking the vehicles.
During the action, a suspicious vehicle bearing registration number W8087 coming from Zhob was stopped for checking. Upon searching the vehicle’s secret cavities, the police recovered 40 kilograms of hashish packed in 32 packets and arrested two inter-provincial drug smugglers Izzatullah and Shireen, residents of Landikotal in Khyber district.
The police said that the drug smugglers were smuggling narcotics from Balochistan to Tirah in Khyber district via Upper South Waziristan but the timely action aborted their bid.
A case has been registered against them under the Narcotics Act, and they have been transferred to the lockup for further investigation. Preliminary investigations suggest that the suspects are inter-provincial drug smugglers involved in smuggling drugs from Zhob in Balochistan to Tirah in Khyber district.
