PESHAWAR: The Peshawar High Court on Monday reserved decision on a petition seeking the transfer of a civil case to another location due to the volatile situation in Kurram tribal district.
During hearing of the petition, the petitioner’s lawyer informed the court that his client was an employee of an engineering university and wanted to appear as a witness in a civil case in Kurram.
However, he pleaded that due to the deteriorating situation there, the witness’s statement could not be recorded at the sessions court in Sadda.Upon this, PHC Acting Chief Justice SM Attique Shah remarked that steps would be taken to provide video link facilities. He said that this facility was available across the province and that transferring a single case would not be feasible. Measures will be taken to ensure the availability of this facility in Kurram as well.
He remarked that witness statements were being recorded via video link from Europe, US and other countries, so similar arrangements would be made in this case. The bench, after hearing the arguments, reserved its decision.
