MANSEHRA: A notorious offender, wanted by police in dozens of cases of murder, attempted murder, highway robberies and extortion, was killed in an encounter in the Khaki area here on Sunday.
“The wanted outlaw and his accomplices opened fire on police when they raided their hideout. A stray bullet hit him and he succumbed to his injuries on the way to a health facility,” District Police Officer Shafiullah Khan Gandapur told reporters.
He said that the notorious criminal, Mohammad Adil alias Kaka, had fled to his hideout after killing two people and seriously injuring three others, including a woman, in the Timber Khatta area.
“Our team headed by DSP Baffa Saddaqat Nisar and including SHO Khaki Asim Bukhari followed him and raided his hideout where he and his accomplices opened fire on the police,” Gandapur said.
The DPO said that police rushed him to King Abdullah Teaching Hospital after he sustained gunshot wounds but he succumbed to his injuries on the way.Gandapur said that details of the multiple cases of murder, attempted murder, extortion, robberies and others had been registered against him at the Khaki Police Station.
Meanwhile, the bodies of Mohammad Qasim and his cousin Mohammad Waqar, who were killed by the slain proclaimed offender, were handed over to their families after medico-legal formalities were completed by doctors at King Abdullah Teaching Hospital here.
