BZU earns global recognition in QS World Ranking 2025
MULTAN: The Bahauddin Zakariya University (BZU) has secured a position among the top 251-300 universities worldwide in Agriculture and Forestry in the QS World University Rankings 2025.
This milestone highlights Pakistan’s growing excellence in higher education and research. The achievement credits BZU’s Agriculture Faculty, dedicated faculty members, researchers, and students for maintaining high academic and research standards.
The leadership of Dean Prof Dr Nazim Hussain and Vice Chancellor Prof Dr Zubair Iqbal played a key role in securing this global recognition. Vice Chancellor Prof Dr Zubair Iqbal called the ranking a testament to the BZU’s academic and research excellence. He emphasised the university’s commitment to modern research and innovative teaching methods.
Under Prof Dr Nazim Hussain’s leadership, the agriculture faculty has made significant contributions to sustainable farming, advanced agricultural research, and environmental projects. The global ranking confirms that the BZU’s research meets international standards. This success boosts Pakistan’s reputation in academia and strengthens BZU’s global standing. The education experts praised the achievement and expressed confidence in the BZU’s continued rise in global rankings.
CRACKDOWN ON SUBSTANDARD FOOD: In a significant effort to improve food safety standards in the City of Saints, the Punjab Food Authority (PFA) has launched a series of inspections targeting prominent restaurants and water plants.
During the inspections, the PFA teams confiscated 500 kilograms of raw materials, 100 kilograms of substandard jams and 10 kilograms of stale vegetables. Furthermore, production at four water plants was suspended until corrective measures were implemented, while five food outlets were fined a total of Rs 400,000 for violating health and safety regulations.
Three water plants in Industrial Estate, 17 in Kassi and Northern Bypass were scrutinised as part of the operation. In Basti Noor Wala, a spice mill and pickle production unit were fined Rs 170,000 for storing raw materials in unhygienic conditions and operating with inadequate cleanliness standards.
