PESHAWAR: Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Inspector General of Police (IGP) Zulfiqar Hameed on Friday said that the police were investigating the recent bombings in Nowshera and Bannu after getting the CCTV footage of the attacks.

He was speaking to Geo News about the investigations into the recent bombings in Nowshera and Bannu, as well as new security measures in the province.

The IGP confirmed that investigations into the bombings in Nowshera and Bannu were progressing, with four key areas of inquiry being thoroughly explored.

He said the police had acquired CCTV footage from both attack sites, which had been instrumental in the ongoing investigation.

“Through the remains of the suicide bombers, we have been able to identify them,” said the IGP.

“We have tracked the vehicles used in the Bannu attack, and investigations show that foreign-made weapons were involved,” he added.

The IGP said that police authorities were now tracking the origin and movement of the weapons used in these incidents, aiming to determine which country they came from and how they entered Pakistan.

In response to growing concerns in the Kurram district, Zulfiqar Hameed said that over 100 suspects had been arrested in connection with the recent violence in the area.

“We have developed a strategy to address these challenges,” he said, expressing confidence that such attacks would not affect convoys in the future.

The IGP assured the public that efforts to establish lasting peace in Kurram were underway, with promising results expected in the near future.Zulfiqar Hameed announced the approval of the much-trumpeted Safe City Project that included the installation of cameras at key entry and exit points, as well as sensitive locations in Peshawar.

“The installation of cameras will begin after Eid, and we aim to complete the project within a few months,” he said, highlighting the importance of enhancing surveillance to improve overall security.
