PESHAWAR: Advisor to the Chief Minister on Information and Public Relations Barrister Dr Muhammad Ali Saif has stated that Federal Minister Khawaja Asif’s claim about settling terrorists in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa is misleading and baseless.
“Such allegations are merely an attempt to cover up the federal government’s failure in combating terrorism,” he said in a statement.
Barrister Saif challenged Khawaja Asif to identify even a single terrorist who has been settled in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.
He questioned why, if the defense minister truly has knowledge of terrorists being resettled, he has not taken action against them instead of making accusations.
He reminded Khawaja Asif that as defence minister, he is responsible not just for the borders of Islamabad but for the entire country.”
It is unfortunate that despite holding such a critical position, Khawaja Asif is engaging in political rhetoric on a sensitive issue like terrorism,” he added.
The CM’s aide said that combating terrorism requires practical measures, not just statements.
He also said that while Khawaja Asif had apologized for supporting martial law, it would be more appropriate for him to also apologise for Form 47.
“Apologizing decades later holds no real significance," he said, adding Khawaja Asif should also seek forgiveness from Rehana Dar for becoming an MNA through Form 47.
He maintained that Khawaja Asif should take responsibility for the Balochistan incident and step down as defense minister.
