Karachi’s Additional IG Javed Alam Odho issued orders on Friday to prepare a comprehensive strategy to prevent crime in the city and to expedite police operations against criminal elements on a priority basis.
He issued these directives while chairing a high-level meeting at the Karachi Police Office (KPO) on crime prevention and security during Ramazan. Officials said the meeting was attended by the Karachi Range DIGs, DIG CIA, DIG Investigation, district SSPs and other senior officers.
The SSPs briefed Odho about the performance of their zones. The meeting took a detailed review of the current situation of crime and law and order. The city police chief discussed security issues regarding Youm-e-Ali, Youm Al-Quds, religious gatherings, and shopping malls and Eid-ul-Fitr and issued foolproof security orders.
Earlier, 10 newly recruited DSPs met Additional IG Odho at the KPO. DIG Admin Zulfiqar Lark and ADIG Admin Imran Shaukat were also present on the occasion. Odho, while welcoming the officers, directed them to adhere to the principles of honesty, professionalism and public service. He further said that the role of young officers will be important in dealing with the challenges faced by the police.
The officers thanked the additional IG for this guidance and expressed their commitment to serve the citizens. A meeting was held at the National Highways & Motorway Police South Zone office with owners and operators of public service transport companies. The meeting was chaired by DIG Motorway Police South Zone Asghar Ali Yousafzai and focused on various aspects of passenger safety and road safety measures. Representatives from Daewoo Express, Faisal Movers, Kainat Travels, Adil Shah Coaches, Geo Farhan Coaches, and other transport companies attended the meeting.
