PESHAWAR: Qaumi Watan Party (QWP) provincial Chairman Sikandar Hayat Khan Sherpao on Friday expressed concern over the rising incidents of terrorism, stating that Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and Balochistan were in the grip of continuous terror attacks.
He warned that the surge in terror incidents had created an atmosphere of fear and uncertainty among the people. In a press release issued from the QWP Secretariat, Watan Kor, Sikandar Sherpao described the worsening security situation in both provinces as a matter of national concern, emphasizing that it posed a serious threat to the country’s stability. He cautioned that failure to devise a comprehensive counter-terrorism strategy could have dire consequences for the entire nation.
The QWP leader called on the government, security agencies and political parties to unite on a single platform to safeguard national security and restore lasting peace.
He stressed that incidents such as the Jaffar Express train attack, the Bannu attacks, and violent incidents in Kurram and Jandola must not be ignored. He urged authorities to bring the perpetrators to justice and ensure they faced exemplary punishment.
He said that QWP had repeatedly highlighted the deteriorating security situation in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and Balochistan, yet the provincial governments had shown little seriousness in addressing the crisis. This negligence, he noted, had exacerbated security challenges.
Sikandar Sherpao urged the government to tackle the root causes of terrorism and adopt a comprehensive approach involving law enforcement agencies, political stakeholders, and all relevant institutions. He urged the government to implement the National Action Plan in its true spirit to restore peace in the country.
