PESHAWAR: The Acting Chief Justice of the Peshawar High Court, Justice SM Attique Shah, has laid the foundation stone for the new Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Services Tribunal building, which is being constructed at a cost of Rs220 million.
The ceremony was attended by Justice Syed Arshad Ali, Peshawar High Court Registrar Ikhtiar Khan, Services Tribunal Chairman Kaleem Arshad, Additional Registrar Admin Mamrez Khalil, Peshawar Session Judge Inaam Wazir, and other law officers, as well as the Vice-Chairman of the KP Bar Council, Ahmad Farooq Khattak.
During the event, the chief justice was briefed on the new five-story building, which will be equipped with modern facilities to accommodate lawyers, litigants, and judges. He emphasized the importance of providing maximum facilities to visitors, particularly as the tribunal primarily serves government officers and employees.
Addressing the concerned authorities, The PHC acting CJ inquired whether a designated waiting area for litigants had been included in the design. He noted that with around six million civil servants in the province, the tribunal deals with cases involving government officials and employees who require proper seating arrangements. He also directed officials to ensure separate waiting areas for men and women, along with dedicated restrooms for both genders.
