JI leader concerned over law and order situation in southern districts
BANNU: Expressing concerns over deteriorating law and order in southern districts and elsewhere in the province, Jamaat-e-Islami (JI) head for South, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Prof Muhammad Ibrahim Khan on Wednesday said that ordinary citizens were bearing the brunt of the situation.
Talking to reporters here, he said the recent suicide attacks on the cantonment area and clashes between the forces and militants in Lakki Marwat and other districts were a matter of concerns for all and sundry.
Prof Ibrahim urged for a peaceful resolution of issues rather than using Quranic verses to justify their battles. He demanded the reopening of key roads, including Juma Khan Road and Miranshah Road, which have been blocked, causing severe difficulties for residents. He also called for the removal of checkpoints that restrict civilian movement in and around the cantonment area. Furthermore, the JI leader demanded the withdrawal of cases against leaders of the Amn Pasoon movement, including Samad Khan Lala, and their removal from the Fourth Schedule. He called on Parliament and the Supreme Court to abolish the Fourth Schedule and Section 11-EE of the Anti-Terrorism Act, which he argued are being misused.
The JI leader criticised political and military leadership for what he called prioritizing US interests over national security. He accused the United States of attempting to instigate tension between Pakistan, Afghanistan, and Iran.
He urged Pakistani authorities to strengthen relations with China, Iran, and Afghanistan while rejecting foreign interference in regional matters. The JI leader also strongly condemned the recent attack on the Jaffar Express train, expressing condolences for the victims and prayers for the injured and abducted individuals.
