Transport tyranny
By News Desk
March 13, 2025
Now that Ramazan is here, the transport mafias have confidently augmented the fares of buses, cars and other vehicles. It is the lower-income groups that face the brunt of these increases and also those living and working outside of their hometowns. Many of the latter might not even be able to afford to travel back to their families for Eid.
The extra money collected by transporters also does not seem to go to the ones actually driving the vehicles. They are often overworked and tired, compromising their health in order to earn a living. The transport authorities must address this problem and ensure reasonable fairs for commuters while also implementing improved working conditions for drivers.
