LAHORE: The Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) Cyber Crime Circle has issued an official letter to authorities regarding alleged misconduct by law enforcement personnel.
According to the letter, officials from provincial Law Enforcement Agencies (LEAs) have been conducting raids on call centers under FIA’s name. It further states that these personnel have been extorting money from citizens and misusing FIA’s authority, particularly in Lahore. The letter highlights that unauthorized raids and bribery by these officials are damaging FIA’s reputation. Despite repeated warnings to the concerned authorities, the issue persists. Families of affected individuals have also reached out to FIA’s Cyber Crime division for assistance. FIA has urged authorities to prevent provincial law enforcement officials from interfering in its jurisdiction and to take up the matter at the highest level against those using FIA’s name for extortion. Sources within FIA claim that personnel from the Central Intelligence Agency (CIA) and Punjab Police have been involved in raiding call centers.
