Pemra gets five members from provinces, Centre
Pemra will become functional as per notification of appointment of these members
ISLAMABAD: President Asif Ali Zardari has approved the appointment of one member each from all provinces and the Federation to Pemra.
According to government sources, the president approved the appointment of five members to PEMRA on the advice of the prime minister. Sabahat Rafique was approved to be appointed as Member Punjab, Haider Naqvi as Member Sindh, Iftikhar Firdous as Member Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Ayesha Ayub Wadood as Member Balochistan and Dr. Rashid Wali Janjua as Member Federal Capital Territory to Pemra.
These posts are currently vacant. The Pemra will become functional as per the notification of appointment of these members. The Pemra consists of a chairman and 12 members. The five members are from all provinces including the federation.
There are five ex-officio members, including the secretary information, secretary home, chairman PTA and chairman revenue board. There is one executive member from Pemra, while one member is from PFUJ and one is from PBA. Executive member and one each member from PFUJ and PBA are already present there.
