Man with relatives arrested for shaving wife’s head

BAHAWALPUR: Uch Sharif police Saturday booked and arrested a man and his relatives on charges of humiliating his wife Shamshad Bibi.
Reportedly, Rajab Ali and his relatives tortured and blackened and removed head hair of Shamshad Bibi for her alleged elopement with a man. The police have taken the action on the directions of Regional Police Officer (RPO) Dr Ehsan Sadiq.
The RPO sought an initial report regarding the issue and the Uch Sharif police have dispatched a report mentioning that Shamshad Bibi was tortured by her husband Rajab, her stepmother Moqsooda Bibi and her brother-in-law over some domestic disputes. According to locals, Shamshad Bibi had eloped with Akber Baloch some 11 days ago and was brought back by local landlord Haji Sharif and it is alleged that she was tortured and her head was partially shaven.
BUTCHERS BLOOD TEST: District Coordination Officer (DCO) Dr Ehtisham Anwer Mahaar Saturday made mandatory the blood screening tests of all butchers to ensure quality meat to consumers at 12 Ramazan Bazaars in district Bahawalpur.
He issued the directions during a visit of different Ramazan Bazaars in the district.
He asked health officials to launch a stringent campaign of blood testing of all butchers and their helpers.
The DCO prohibited butchers to sell without blood screening tests. EDO (Health) Dr Shahid Khaliq immediately launched the blood screening. The DCO directed the EDO health to personally supervise this ongoing drive to achieve the desired targets.
