Having received the first spell of pre-monsoon rains this week, Islamabad and adjoining areas will have showers next week, too.

According to Pakistan Meteorological Department forecasting officer Muhammad Junaid, there is a likelihood of more pre-monsoon showers falling in different parts of the country, especially Islamabad, Punjab and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, during the next week beginning tomorrow (Monday).

He said upper Punjab and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa would receive rains coupled with strong winds from July 21 to July 24.

The weatherman said mainly hot and dry weather would prevail in most parts of the country over the weekend but there were chances of rainfall in parts of Punjab and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Azad Jammu and Kashmir and surrounding areas.

He said seasonal low lied over north Balochistan and adjoining areas with its trough extending south-eastward.

The PMD official said weak moist currents were penetrating into Azad Jammu and Kashmir and adjoining areas, while a shallow westerly wave was affecting northern areas of the country.

The PMD has already alerted the people across the country, including Islooites, to the possibility of the coming monsoon being wetter than normal.
