IB official martyred in Peshawar
PESHAWAR: An officer of the Intelligence Bureau was martyred by unidentified attackers in the limits of Michini Gate Police Station here on Wednesday.Police officials said Inspector Shahid Anwar was targeted by two motorcyclists as he came out of his house in his car.
“Initial reports said two motorcyclists opened fire with their semi- automatic gun on the IB official. He sustained serious injuries and succumbed to the injuries,” an official said.He said the teams of police investigators as well as Counter-Terrorism Department have collected pieces of evidence and started a technical investigation into the incident.
Later the funeral prayers of Shahid Anwar were offered that were attended by Capital City Police Officer Qasim Ali, joint director general IB, Arshad Ali, SSP Masood Bangash and other senior officials.
Police and officials of different forces have been coming under attack in Peshawar and many other districts of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa for the last many months.Recently, alerts were issued about threats to security officials as well as high value targets in different parts of the province.
