Lawyers’ convention sets 48-hour deadline to transfer Hyderabad SSP
HYDERABAD: The All Sindh Lawyers’ Convention unanimously ended the ongoing boycott of courts proceedings here on Wednesday, but it set a 48-hour deadline to transfer Hyderabad SSP Farrukh Lanjar
The convention was held by the Hyderabad District Bar. The newly elected president of the district bar, Ashar Khokhar, gave 48 hours to the Sindh government to remove SSP Lanjar; otherwise, they would march towards Karachi and agitate In front of the Chief Minister’s House.
A month ago, tensions between the police and lawyers started after the registration of a case against a fellow lawyer. Lawyers surrounded the office of the SSP and staged a dharna on the Hyderabad-Karachi national highway from February 6 to 8.
The three-day sit-in at the Wadhu Wah bypass ended after the SSP left charge on an eight-day leave. When he resumed charge, the lawyers got angry and resorted to a boycott of courts in Hyderabad for 12 days. The All Sindh Lawyers Convention also unanimously passed a resolution against the six canals project and the 26th amendment.
