668 suspects involved in online betting held
LAHORE:Lahore police have intensified their crackdown against gambling dens and online betting gangs, resulting in the arrest of 668 suspects and the registration of 175 cases, this year.
According to a statement issued by the Lahore Police spokesman, over Rs3.79 million stake money was recovered from the arrested individuals. The crackdown led to the apprehension of 238 suspects in City Division, 182 in Cantt, 49 in Civil Lines, 42 in Saddar, 96 in Iqbal Town and 61 in Model Town division, he added. Meanwhile, Capital City Police Officer (CCPO) Bilal Siddique Kamyana reiterated the department’s commitment to eliminating both physical and online gambling and directed the police to accelerate operations, emphasizing intelligence-based raids on gambling dens.
