PU, PITB sign MoU on job fairs registration
LAHORE:Punjab University (PU) has signed an MoU with Punjab Information Technology Board (PITB) for registration of working human capital and bridge the gap between potential employer and employee through an IT system.
In this regard, a ceremony to sign the MoU was held at PU VC’s office here on Tuesday. On this occasion, PU VC Prof Dr Muhammad Ali, Director IT Operations PITB Atif Hussain and others were present. According to MoU, Punjab University will provide the incoming flow of the students and will encourage them to get registered into Punjab Job Centre Portal. PITB will support the integration of the database with available data of current students and alumni.
PU will inform PITB in case of any activity planned job fairs, talent hunt programmes etc. As per MoU, PU will publicise Punjab Job Centre within university premises. PITB will also provide necessary information to students regarding registration and its benefits; ensure the secrecy of data provided. PITB shall oversee and ensure timely execution of project activities and maintain project reports and record keeping of project activities.
Both the institutions are united by common interests and objectives, and they shall establish channels of communication and co-operation that will promote and advance their respective operations.
The institutions will keep each other informed of potential opportunities and shall share all information that may be relevant to secure additional opportunities for one another.
Students fined over violating varsity discipline
The Punjab University administration on Tuesday took action against a number of students over disciplinary violations.
According to a PU spokesperson, the university cancelled the admission of Islamic Studies student M Sarfraz for harassing a female student. Mohsin Abbas was fined Rs10,000 and issued a warning letter for creating a ruckus and quarrel, while Hassan Abdullah was fined Rs5,000, a warning posted on the notice board of the department and a complaint letter to his parents. Similarly, Abdul Rehman was fined Rs10,000, a warning posted on the notice board and a complaint letter to his parents. The spokesperson said that M Wahab Khurshid, Mujahid Hussain, Mohsin Abbas and Moeez Malik were issued a warning posted on the notice board for their involvement in a violent protest outside the VC office. The spokesperson said that on the instructions of PU VC Dr Muhammad Ali, indiscriminate action would be continued against students guilty of violating discipline.
