Saudi envoy calls on Dar

Both expressed their commitment to further strengthen existing deep-rooted ties between two countries

ISLAMABAD: Ambassador of Saudi Arabia to Pakistan, Nawaf bin Said Al-Malki, Monday called on Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister, Senator Mohammad Ishaq Dar and discussed matters of mutual interests.

Both expressed their commitment to further strengthen the existing deep-rooted ties between the two countries, particularly in trade and investment. Ambassador Maliki conveyed Ramazan greetings to the deputy prime minister and the people of Pakistan. The Deputy PM reciprocated the same for the leadership and people of Saudi Arabia.

Meanwhile, Federal Minister Chaudhary Salik Hussain and Saudi Ambassador Nawaf bin Said Ahmad Al-Malki inaugurated King Salman Dates Distribution and Iftaar programme for Pakistan.

Describing the Iftar programme and the distribution of dates, Saudi Ambassador Nawaf bin Said Ahmad Al-Malki said it is part of the initiatives directed by the Custodian of the two Holy Mosques, King Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud, to be implemented in Pakistan and several other countries during Ramazan. The aim is to care for poor and needy families, widows, and orphans and to provide them with opportunities for joy and happiness, to meet their needs, and to effectively assist in alleviating the hardships of impoverished and extremely needy families. The ambassador further mentioned that the Iftar programme and the gift of dates will be held throughout Ramadan across Pakistan. Under this programme, 20 tonnes of dates will be distributed to 40,000 deserving individuals, while 30,000 individuals will benefit.

On this occasion, Chaudhry Salik Hussain, expressed gratitude on behalf of Prime Minister Shahbaz Sharif, the government, and the people of Pakistan to the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia for its continuous assistance to those in need. He said the gifts symbolize the bond of brotherhood and goodwill between the people of Saudi Arabia, its government, its leadership, and the people of Pakistan.
