Protests continue in Parachinar
PARACHINAR: The residents of Parachinar continued their protest for the second consecutive day on Monday against the prolonged blockade of roads, which has left over 500,000 people struggling for food and medical aid.
Demonstrators, including elderly citizens, men, and women, gathered outside the Parachinar Press Club despite freezing temperatures, demanding the immediate reopening of routes. Addressing the protesters, the leaders including Malik Zartaj and Musarrat Bangash expressed their frustration over the five-month-long road closures, which have isolated more than 100 villages in Upper and Lower Kurram from essential supplies. They warned that the sit-in would continue until the roads were reopened and security ensured.
The protest leaders also condemned the worsening crisis during the Ramazan, stating that families were being forced to break their fasts with just water due to shortage of ration supplies.
Meanwhile, a separate protest is ongoing in Bagan, Lower Kurram, where tribal members are demanding relief for affected residents and action against those responsible for the damages in the area. The district administration has assured that efforts are being made to reopen roads and ensure supply of food and other essential goods.
