Two friends drown in canal

FAISALABAD: Two friends drowned in a canal near Chak 275/GB in Rodala police limits on Thursday evening.

Muhammad Nawaz and Saqlain Abbas were taking bath in the canal when they drowned. Their bodies could not be recovered till the filing of the report.

ABDUCTION FOILED: Factory Area police foiled abduction here on Thursday night.

Three kidnappers abducted five-year-old Muhammad Ahsan from a street and escaped. On information, police rushed to the spot and started chasing the kidnappers.

Near Mureedwala, the accused opened fire on them. Police also retaliated but the kidnappers managed to escape after leaving the abductee. The child was later handed over to his parents.

GIRL COMMITS SUICIDE: A girl committed suicide at Samanabad on Friday. Shumaila Bibi ended her life by swallowing poisonous pills. The motive behind the incident is said to be a domestic dispute. Samanabad police allowed the parents to burry the body after completing legal formalities.

 

Minimum load management plan under way: Fesco CEO

FAISALABAD: Faisalabad Electric Supply Company (Fesco) Chief Executive Officer (CEO) Rashid Ahmed Aslam Friday said demand of electricity has increased owing to intense heat and the Fesco was implementing minimum load management plan for consumers.

Addressing a meeting of the officers of four operation circles of Fesco, the CEO stressed upon the officers and officials for consumers-friendly attitude and ensure early rectification of their electricity related problems. He said no negligence would be tolerated on the part of lethargic officials. The CEO said teams have been constituted for the provision of better services to consumers. He said Rs 5,000 cash reward for the best meter readers of the every division has started to ensure 100 per cent accuracy of mobile meter reading. He said the Ministry of Water and Power had announced Ramazan bonus for the best distribution company who would achieve the target of 100 per cent accuracy in mobile meter reading. Chief Commercial Officer Sardar Masood, Chief Financial Officer Zahid Hassan, CE Operation Amid Siddiqui, Director Commercial Abdul Qayyum, DG (IT) Aziz Ahmed, SEs of four operation circles, Director (MM) Mazhar Abbas, Additional Director (PR) Tahir Sheikh, SO Abid Rashid and other FESC officers also attended the meeting.
