HYDERABAD: Former federal minister and National Peoples Party (NPP) head Ghulam Murtaza Jatoi has been released from the Nara prison, Hyderabad, after approval of bail from a Sukkur magistrate.

Jatoi had been in judicial custody for a few weeks in a murder attempt case. On Friday, the Sukkur judicial magistrate II approved his bail on orders of the Sindh High Court’s Larkana bench.

In recent days, multiple cases were filed against Jatoi in Naushehro Feroz, Nawabshah, Khairpur, Sukkur and Larkana. He has already obtained bail in four cases against him. The NPP chief, who is also part of the Grand Democratic Alliance, was shifted to the Nara Jail Hyderabad on February 18, 2025. During his incarceration in Hyderabad, he was examined and kept for observation in Civil Hospital due to high blood pressure.

Dozens of workers and members of the tribe reached the prison to welcome Jatoi on his release. Speaking to the media, he said he had lost interest in politics, but now he would challenge the Pakistan Peoples Party. He remarked that there was still some law in the country due to which the judiciary had released me in frivolous cases.
