ISLAMABAD: Opposition Leader in the National Assembly and senior Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) leader Omar Ayub complained on Thursday that they were denied a meeting with party founder Imran Khan, after being made to stand outside the Adiala jail for over an hour.
“Our meeting was supposed to be held on the court orders and for the purpose, the party founder had himself given the names of six party leaders, including me, as he wanted to meet us today,” he said while talking to the media outside the jail in Rawalpindi.
He said the Adiala jail administration did not allow them to meet their leader. The visitors included Junaid Akbar, Sahibzada Hamid Raza, Kanwal Shauzab, Taimur Jhagra and Omar Ayub.
Omar Ayub regretted that long dates were being given for hearing at the prison trial. He talked about their recent meeting with the Chief Justice of Pakistan during which the entire situation was put in front of him.
The opposition leader said that the subordinate courts were giving long dates, whereas the chief justice was informed that fundamental rights of PTI founder were being taken away.
He said, “We had placed the issues of all our prisoners before the Chief Justice while today the opposition has spoken about the Constitution and the rule of law at the national conference in Islamabad.”
